| National Speedo Swimming League South - Division 1 Saturday 13 December 2008, Pavilions in the Park, Horsham The final round of the National Speedo Swimming League South - Division 1 took place on Saturday at Horsham. RRSC gave a fantastic performance finishing yet again in 4th place with 167 points. Taking all three NSLS competitions, RRSC's final league position was 10th place in Division 1. This is a superb result overall for us, as it is the first time competed in Division 1, which is a much tougher league but finishing in 10th place after the final round is tremendous. Contratulations to the whole team for putting in a superb performance and really helping to place RRSC on the map as a highly competitive swimming club.

| Atlantis Christmas Cracker Open Meet Sunday 7 December 2008, Pavilions in the Park, Horsham Sunday 7th December saw an even earlier start than the November Dorking gala! Our swimmers were on good form and achieved, yet again, many PB times. Special mention must go to the following swimmers who achieved fantastic PBs: Georgina Robinson took 14 seconds off her 200 Backstroke time and 10 seconds off her 200 freestyle, but not to be outdone by her younger sister, Charlotte Robinson took 11 seconds off her 200 backstroke time and 7 seconds off her 200 freestyle. Abigail Dahl got PBs in 200 Backstroke (4 seconds) and 200 Breaststroke (6 seconds). Carl Campion took 6 seconds off his 200 Breaststroke and 4 off his 200 Backstroke. Sam Jones knocked 8 seconds from his 200 Freestyle and Leah Barker stripped 10 seconds off her 200 IM. Well done also to Emily Mabbutt who took a whopping 15 seconds off her 200 Breaststroke. Once again, the atmosphere was wonderful, the support that our swimmers gave to each other was first rate and although we were all flagging by the end of the day it was a pleasure to be on poolside, especially when our swimmers did a poolside dance to YMCA for all to see! Well done everyone! |

| Dorking L3 Open Meet Sunday 9 November 2008 After what seemed like a ridiculously early start, our younger swimmers arrived at the Dorking Open Meet on Sunday 9th November full of nervous energy and excitement. Some were old hands at galas while for others this was their first open meet and they had no idea what to expect. Nerves could have got the better of them but they rose to the occasion and did their club proud! The atmosphere was buzzing and by the end of the morning session our swimmers had collected 1 gold, 3 silver, 5 bronze medals, 10 speeding tickets and 25 PBs!
A special mention goes to Leah Barker who had a 5 second PB, picking up a silver medal in the 50m Breaststroke and another 5 second PB in the 50m IM. For the boys Sam Jones, with a PB of 5 seconds, won a bronze medal in the 50m Breaststroke. Joanna Amey knocked 4 seconds off her PB and picked up a gold medal in the 50m Butterfly. 50m Backstroke saw Sam Green pick up a silver medal with a 4 second PB. The morning session ended with astonishing PBs of 13 seconds for Sam Green and Sam Jones in the 50m IM. What a finale!
The afternoon session was no less nerve racking than the morning. Our older, more experienced swimmers impressed us with 14 PBs, 4 Gold, 5 Silver 2 Bronze medals and 3 speeding tickets! Katie Amey achieved a 6 second PB in the 100m Breaststroke and a 5 second PB in the 100m Backstroke. Archie Evans and Josh Patel picked up Gold medals in the 100m Breaststroke and Olivia Nicoll won Gold in the 100m Backstroke. In the 100m Freestyle Ella Barker also picked up Gold.
It was a pleasure to watch our swimmers perform on Sunday. They were fantastic in their achievements and also their support for each other. The icing on the cake at the end of what had been a wonderful swimming day was Redhill and Reigate gaining the most points throughout the day and winning the Dorking Visitors Cup. |
| Speedo League Round 2 Saturday 8 November 2008 Rainbow Leisure Centre, Epsom RRSC had a fight on their hands on Saturday night at the NSLS (Speedo) round 2 gala. It was a valiant performance, as it was reported the pool was not an easy pool to compete in! | Redhill & Reigate Pre-Speedo Gala Donyngs, Saturday 27 September 2008 Redhill & Reigate Swimming Club were delighted to finish in second place with 208 points! This was a real test for us following recent changes at RRSC and the very high standard of the visiting clubs. The gallery was packed out with superb support from parents and made the evening's atmosphere very special. Our coaches Marion and Sarah really stepped up to the mark, encouraging our swimmers through each of their races. We really have to thank Tracy, Colin, Dave and all the helpers and officials who made the evening a very memorable experience. We had many comments from other coaches and team managers stating that this was one of the best galas they had attended in recent years! Final results were as follows: All the swimmers did a fantastic job and they should be very proud of themselves. |
